Last time we changed the fuel filter on our F3 combine the primer pump didnt work. Pumps no fuel and moves with no resistance. Any thoughts on likely problem? I see a plunger kit is available but no other rebuild kit. Parts book shows a couple of valves a spring a couple different o rings back in the body all individually. Haven't taken apart to examine yet but just curious if others have seen this. It doesnt leak around the plunger. This is the same pump as found on the tractors such as a 185.

This is a simple system, pull the plunger and if it seals on the circumference it will pull in fuel through the bottom check valve. When the plunger stops the bottom check valve closes and the plunger is pushed in and it pushes the fuel out the other check valve. Vhen the plunger stops its inward travel the outlet valve closes and the process is repeated. IF the unit doesn't pump it is trash in the check valves or a poor sealing plunger. Specs of the rubber can sedge in the outlet or trash can be sucked into the inlet check. You should hear a 'honking' sound when pumped dry = pull the valve out and clean.

IF its like the 190---they wont sell repair parts---gotta buy the whole pump! been that route,--so I said F--- ac ant went to napa and got an electric pump ! best move I ever made--tractor starts better--NEVER have prime problems, electric pump 1/3 the price of the hand jobbers, and made me happy!---thats 1 option you have.

I put an electric pump on my 175 and it works great and also gives you 2 hands to go through the bleeding process.
