Finally getting down to the small bits on the B engine rebuild. Took the old oil filter off the housing and the riser tube is gone. Does anybody have some dimensions or photos of what it should look like? I don't see threads, is the tube pressed in place?

Alternatively, any cheap options out there for converting to a more standard type spin on filter?

the tube presses in. there is a small hole in the top to let a SMALL amount of oil go into the filter and back to sump.. This is a bypass filter.. You WASTE about 15% of the total flow thru the filter and back to sump.. the majority goes to be motor lube... You need the right size hole to work good... Tony is a cheap source for the right tube.

thanks for the info, guys. Even though I've had my hands all over this, it didn't get through my thick head this was a bypass filter system until you mentioned it. It all makes sense now. So its probably 15% filter, 5% governer and rockers and the rest down the cam?

I like fabbing my own parts whenever possible, but that tube from Tony looks too tempting to pass up.

the amount going thru the filter is determined by the hole in the tube.. if the tube is GONE or hole is too big, you will leak off WAY TOO MUCH oil and could starve the motor for lube.....Your right , about 85% goes to lube the system by going down the hollow cam shaft... and minor amount for the small tube to gov / top end.
