Hello,

I am looking for some help on servicing the transmission, differential and final drive of my B. I have not had much luck in finding the proper procedure for doing so. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

What is it you're trying to do? Just the fluids or something a bit more extensive like a tear down of some sort?

Sorry for the delayed response, I am just looking to simply change the fluids. It seems like a fairly simple process, I just want to make sure I do not end up missing anything.

the transmission / differential and hydraulics are all one oil system.. look under the tractor and you will see 3 of a 1/2 inch pipe plug on the bottom of the 3 cases... Drain all 3. You will get approx 8 quarts of oil out... there is ONE FILL spot on the left side of the transmission by your foot... maybe a 1 inch pipe plug at a 45 degree angle.. Unscrew and add about 8 quarts till the level is at the hole and starts to run out.. A good oil to use is UNIVERSAL TRACTOR FLUID... or 20 wt hydraulic fluid, etc...

The final drives are the tin oil pans at the bottom of each final case. you will see a 1/4 inch or 3/8 inch pipe plug in the tin pan... that is where you ADD the oil.. You should remove the oil pan and clean out all the gunk and reinstall. Normally you can reach around the tire and remove all the bolts... about 10 of a 5/ 16 bolt ? ... the pan has a gasket.. you can scrape that off and seal the face with a layer of RTV.. Dont gob it on, just enough to form a gasket.. If the oil pan face is warped, then pound the backside while setting on a table to get it straight.... After reinstall, add 80- 90 wt gear lube.. I takes less than a quart on each side.
