I noticed yesterday on my 7060 when shifting from 3rd to 4rth and 4rth to 5th on the low side it seemed to be softer than ever before. Any ideas on what to start with? I checked the fluid level when it was warm and had been running for a while and it was right on full. I assume you check it when warm or do you check it cool and after sitting over night.

define "soft"  the feel on the shift lever or slow to change from one gear to the other ?
If the lever the detent spring roller could be faulty.  If slow to move from speed to the other as in slipping - could be sticky valves, faulty pressure regulator or modulator valve or bad seals in clutch pistons.

If lever is soft, broken shift linkage in valve. Could be broken spring in side.          MACK

It's just soft on the lever. It doesn't appear to be slipping or anything. I just noticed the lever is starting to be softer between gears than before.

Check to be sure the lever behind the batteries is punched tightly onto the shaft. I suppose your cable clamps could be loose on one end or the other too. If everything is tight on the outside, there must be something wrong with the valve detents which require pulling the valve.

Is the valve detents accessible from the outside or do you have to split the tractor?

pull off the shift cover behind the batteries.  IF you do not have the aux tank it is a piec of cake. If you do loosen the tank and slide it back.

item 37 and 41 are suspect if it is in the valve as these determine the slots you 'feel'. Probably will need the 2 main gaskets and the oring for the shifter shaft.  IF you do not have a good tranny brake - the item 9 should be replaced - we usually do.
