Hello All,
New owner of a 1960 D17 (serial D17 28849).

Have a few questions on the set-up so I'll try to space them out so the threads dont get to jumbled.

The tractor runs great - started right up with new fuel and Battery.  All the oils look clean.

The front Loader (with trip bucket) has been off for the last few years - Rams and hoses fully drained - Just got that all installed and "Connected" to what I can figure out.  The owner died 2 years ago and the family has no clue as to how it all goes together, so its been sorta a guessing game.

The Rams only have 1 Hydraulic connection, So I'm guessing that the system will push them up with fluid and then gravity will ring them down while pushing the fluid back into the system?

The control lever on the real left (next to seat) has 2 quick connect ports - The top looks used, the bottom unused for a long time.

I connected the 1 hose to the top port - Nothing. Tried adjusting the knob behingd the seat and still nothing.

There is fluid that will seep from the ports if i push in the center - Only tried it with tractor powered off.

The rear lift seems to work just fine - goes up and down.

Is there a certain trick to get the loader up and going?

It does not show how the valve is connected to the tractors hydraulics. I suspect the lift arm need to tied down or fully raised before the loader will operate.

that was an option for running a double acting cylinder. Your normal output line, which I am assuming is now working your loader hydraulics would go to the in port of this valve.  There should be another line going back to the torque tube. This would be your out line. Then the double acting cylinder would hook to the ports in the picture. You would raise the lever under the steering wheel sending oil to the valve next to the seat. Then you would work the valve next to the seat to work your double acting cylinder.

OK so if i understanding this:

The Lever that raises the rear lift arms needs to be in the UP position for the oil to get to the lever to use the loader?

Sorry if thats way off - This is a big move from a Farmall B.Big smile

I don't recall seeing any other lever under the steering wheel.

Great - I will give that a try.

Since the Rams were drained, as well as the hoses - Do I need to Bleed the air out up to the rams? Or will it work its way out after a bit of use?

and the lift arms will raise first before it sends oil to the loader.

Just work the lever up and down a bit.  It should bleed itself out

The valve with the knob is the transport valve. It’s is used for traction booster implements that hook to the snap coupler under the tractor. You could take the hose coming out of this valve going to the lever next to the seat off and put the house going to your loader lift rams here and use the lever under the steering wheel to work your loader. May be a bit more convenient. 

The valve next to the seat was an add on for double acting rams.

Good to know.  I do have a couple of the AC implement that came with the tractor - a bottom plow and a Disc, so it may come in handy
