I have a 73 plow and the book says I need a transport valve. I don't have one. What will the plow do if I try to plow without it. If it is a major problem, I will need a TV for an early D 17 and a WD 45. Who has them? Thanks, Larry Miller ------------- I used to be young and stupid, now I am not young anymore. |

| The function of the Transport valve with implements that have a hydraulic cylinder on them is this: it allows the first 1500 psi or so of hyd oil to go to the lift arms and NOT affect the hydraulic cylinder on the implement. This then allows the Traction Booster to function by tugging up on the front of the plow to put weight on the rear wheels of the tractor. Without this valve, the Traction Booster will probably send oil to the tail wheel cylinder first, lifting the rear of the plow out of the ground and not transferring any weight to the rear wheels of the tractor. I fail to see what a chain hanging from the seat frame has anything to do with this. |

Another feature of the TV is for instance when plowing as long as forward motion continues, all the bottoms will enter or leave the ground in line. In other words you won’t have a sawtooth pattern.  ------------- |

I was under the impression the 'transport valve' simply stopped oil from getting to the cylinder. so, raise implement, close the valve, proceed down the road and the implement can't slowly lower onto the road. I've seen 'director valves' where flow can go either to internal rockshaft cylinder OR to a loader....one of my D-14s had that. | If you want to have it lift like a fully mounted plow, you'll have to change the beaming screw so it cannot extend when the plow is raised up. I'd also remove the cylinder and let the tail wheel float. |
