| Hello all. I ran into an issue with the 7040. I have oil pumping into the cooling system. I do not have any Coolant in the oil though. I am guessing that means a leaking oil cooler? And if so anybody got a line on finding one? |

get it off and look, could be as Mack said, just bad O-rings mine was leaking coolant to the outside I don't know how to put a link but I done this a couple years ago, and posted some pictures...search my handle, in farm equipment,, it should show up, Its not a difficult project, the scariest/difficult is getting the oil cooler out of the housing,,, we used to have a truck shop that had a tool for testing the cooler cores...

| You guys are right, pulled the housing off and one of orings fell out in pieces. Now another question, how did you get the cooler out of the housing? I really don't want to damage it! While I am here I want to replace all 4 orings. |

The water pump ceramic seals were prone to lodge in the cores, vibrate and erode a hole in a tube, The cooler has 'weep' holes that should (not always) prevent the water or oil from mixing - IF they were dry I would suspect a hole in the copper core. Have it tested. If a core is leaking it can be soldered up at each end w/o any lack of cooling. We built a tester with 2 flat plates - one tapped for an air chuck - and 4 bolts on the outside clamping then ends as in a tie bolt hyd cyl - a thick rubber will seal each end between the metal and core. Add air and dunk under water to look for bubbles as a poor mans tester. Get the correct gasket and watch orientation of cooler and oring location. ------------- When told "it's not the money,it's the principle", remember, it's always the money.. |

| oil and coolant rings are different material not interchangeable....seems like mine were both black and kept track of pt#'s on bag for location? I could be wrong but be on the look out. |

| Well it comes out the overflow line. And runs warm. Also makes a mess in the radiator, The cap looks horrible. Also First attempt failed. Now leaks externally. Will have to try again. |

Sadly, I never gave a thought to the "overflow" . Sorry to hear about the "failed fix". How hard is the removal of the cooler? Please keep us posted.
