My 17 is in need of this. Just wondering how its done? New liners and cut the counterbore wider? I dont remember a lot of space between counterbores for this last time I had the head off.

Surface block then recut counterbore. My fire rings will stop that problem.      MACK

Ok, what gaskets do you use your fire rings with? I put one headgasket on where I had to put fire rings in the gasket. Ive put 2 headgaskets on this tractor. The last one I could see the difference in sleeve height, but like a dummy slapped a new one on and went. I suppose new sleeves are in order to make all this worthwile.

The original fix from A-C was so sell you new sleeves that had a top flange that was .030" taller/thicker than the original sleeves. You counterbored the block deeper so these new sleeves would stand out at the correct height. This of course meant a complete engine teardown to the bare block to do this.

The Agco, unless the newest have changed. How deep have they sank? If not too much, these MIGHT hold. Measure the thickness of fire ring that failed.       MACK

So MACK, when resetting the counterbore, do you recommend the .002 protrusion like the manual calls for, or should you jump to like .004?
