          | Found a 8010 2wd with PD. 4500 hours. Has 5 gears, so they're calling it 20 speed. They are referring to it as a partial power shift. I know it has the high /low and has a left hand toggle switch for another range? Would this be comparable to a powershift? It looks to have a lot speed choices. As I stated in my other post I do hay and have never owned a power shift tractor but most people say the PS is the way to go.

          | It's not really like a powershift. The hi/lo within 1 gear selection is the only thing that can be shifted on the fly. |

          | Imagine a 185 with 10 speeds on the gearshift and no neutral on the Power Director clutch handle. |

          | It’s honestly a step backwards from a D17.

          | 7000 and 8000 series have a 5-speed main transmission, a 2-speed HI-Low range transmission, which makes 10 speeds. Then you combine that with a HI-Low power director clutch that makes 20-speeds.  Mr. Victory is still farming with a D-17 I guess...……. |

          | How many gears/speed ranges do you have between 3.5-7mph without having to stop? |

          | For today's farming I'd take one 7050 PD before ten D17's but that's just me.

If it was the 80’s and I was buying a new 8000 series the discount for a PD would have to be significant before it would be tempting. I sent my 7080 down the road because I hated shifting it.

          | 2 gears between 3.5-7mph.   i'm up to date on the 7000 series but not 8000 but someone will have that knowledge.   I loved my PD.  the theory behind the AC PS is bullit proof but the speed selection sorta sucks.   I owned a 7020 PS and loved it on the loader.  field work, not as much but then i never baled with one.  I baled with a 7000 red belly and loved that tranny!   In fact they had alot of great ideas on a 7000 series red belly but had some ty ideas also!

          | We have 2 8050 ps and an 8010 ps. It has 6 forward and 1 reverse in 2 ranges. You can start in either range in 1st though 4th. After your moving you can shift up or down through all six gears, 1st up to 6, 6 down to 1st or up and down as needed without touching the clutch pedal. If you want to shift to reverse, you must come to a stop to shift, but it will not grind, it's all hydraulic. You have limited gears in the work range, yes. I plant corn with an 8050 2wd, I run in high range, 2nd gear and shift down to 1st for ditches and ends. I plant beans with the fwa 8050. This I run in low range, 5th gear and keep the the rpm's up for the hydraulics. But I can shift down to a crawl for going up hills or through draws. The pd trans does give you a better gear speed selection but once you pick a gear you can only shift either up or down one gear without stopping, clutching and shifting.
If you're using a 185 now, going to an 8010 would be like going from a Ford Maverick to a Mustang. An 8010 with ps trans even better.
 Hope this helps.
 Good luck
 ,Leon B Mo

          | We have an 8070 FWA ps 8050 ps and 8010 ps. We have hills hollers and ditches. It’s nice to be able to go from 1.5 -7 mph without clutching. The 8070 does all the tillage. 8050 pulls a 13’ discbine and I plant, spread fertilizer and brush hog with the 8010. I love the power shift. I have driven PD tractors and they would be fine if you have long straight flat roads and fields. But here I want a power shift. |
