Hey all,
My planter I ran last year was a White 6108 8r36 with a PTO pump to run the blower. Honestly I got along great with it, and kept the planter, so swapping the PTO pump over is an option.
My new used planter is a White 6108 8r30 with tractor supplied hydraulic power for the blower.
Is there any tips on how to hook it up? I have 2 remotes on my 7040, and I plan to just hook it to the one with the flow control rod installed and turn the flow down on the remote.
Anything else to worry about?
Does running the hydraulics constantly load the system hard enough I should consider running the PTO pump no matter what?
Any input appreciated,

Either 7000 or 8000 series tractors MUST have the kick-out detent tightened down so the remote lever stays locked in by itself. Dial in the flow to match the flow demand of the planters fan. You should connect the hoses so you have to operate the remote lever in the "lower" position and go to "float' when shutting the planter fan down, letting it coast to a stop. Anything you expect the tractor hydraulic pump to do will shorten its life. Not that it won't do the work you ask of it, its just the fact that if you run the tractors hyd pump 100 hrs a year powering the planter fan, that is 100 hrs of pump life you have spent. If you price a new pump for the tractor (if it is even available) I'll bet a new PTO pump is cheaper and I know it is available. It's up to you. Pick your poison.

I ran a 5700 White with the remote hydraulics on a 7050. I installed a check valve between the pressure and return lines (closer to the blower for ease of tractor coupling) to act as an overrunning clutch to avoid damage to the blower when stopping. Also the check valve prevented the blower from being run backwards. With the check valve you'll have a symbol that looks similar to this: O> Simply install it with the > pointing to the return line and you're set. I used the flow control on the valve to get close to wanted air pressure, then I installed a needle valve in the pressure line from the tractor to fine tune air pressure for best singulation. I'm still using the exact same setup and planter, but now pulling with a DT180A to carry the planter better.

sounds like same planter just narrower. Would think putting pto pump on "new" planter would be simple/easy?.....maybe not. That's what I'd shoot for
