I need a seat for my D-12 Series 3. All the seats I find are black and white. Were the original seats black and white? I thought they were either all black or all white. Am I wrong?

My father purchased a new D15 II from a local Dealer in 1967 and it was supplied with a black seat. Same style, covering, as the black and white ones available from current suppliers. AC Sales brochures show numerous combinations of colors for the later D Series period, as customers wanted more than the old metal pan seat. Our 1957 D17 still has the original metal pan seat and it looks great and feels fine!!!

Does anyone still make a black seat?

Did any come with the white "Super Deluxe" seat ?

First deluxe seats were B & W. Later on in 1965 or 66 they became all black. Never was a white super deluxe from the factory on anything smaller than a One-Eighty. Not to say I haven't seen some on a D-17 S3 or S4, but they were added on later in life.

Good luck with your project.

PS It might be worth a few phone calls to contact the manufacturer of the black and white seats advertised by many of the AC parts suppliers. Perhaps there are black ones available, or they would produce some if they knew a market was feasible. I am not aware of the manufacturer's name.

I have noticed many of the old black seats still in decent shape, on used D Series tractors for sale on the various used farm machinery websites. As noted above by Dr Allis black seats were supplied for a few years, so a market might exist for black seats. The seat manufacturer would probably appreciate that information.

Several years ago I chased down the supplier of the black fold down seats with arm rests used on the 100 Series Tractors from the mid/late seventies (Milsco -Milwaukee Seat Co). Milsco provides the identical seat to Serco Loaders in Minnesota for their fleet of forestry log loading equipment. Milsco would not explain why the seat is not advertised on their website or available to AC parts suppliers. Several forum members here have purchased the seat for their 185/200 etc from Serco Dealers

The Industrial tractors used the all white seat for the deluxe seat in all sizes. I've been trying to find the cushions for my I-40. I haven't found anyone that has them yet.

The " all black" deluxe seat in my opinion was a dumb idea. It was so very hot when out in the sun. The all white "super-deluxe" seat was far nicer, but not offered on smaller than a One-Eighty on the farm side.
