I was thinking about buying 1. But It's something I'd just have to chase around the shop when I needed to get the pickup or van inside. Got's my new H.F. catalogue yesterday. In there Is a picture of a stubby 1/2" air gun, says 700+ ft lbs. I can use that under the mower to remove those dang blades and use my regular floor jack under the front of the mower. It's a total pain to remove the deck from this dang mower. I guess I'm getting drug to Menards tomorrow afternoon and H.F is just a couple of miles from the Clive Menards.

I've got a 8" Ibeam in the car garage mounted on 2 steel 'basement jackposts', with 2 dollys and chain hoists on it. I use that to raise the front end of riders up high to get EASY access to the deck and blades. It's also great to split a D-14 with.put D-14 parallel to the beam. Might have $100 invested, had it for 25 years...hmm $4 a year...pretty dang cheap I'd say.

I built adapters for my 2 post car hoist. Lift the mower 6 feet in the air.

I've built an A-frame boom on my G with a hand wench, which is rated to work under. I made it for general use, and find it works well for lifting the front of my 61" Z-turn mower, when working under the deck.

I got a three point hitch and a boom pole, or whatever you call it where you are, hook the chain on the front axle and raise the pole. It works good for cleaning the deck too.

I wish I could make some of these ideas work. Sure beats laying on the cement and taking off the dang blades. The dang green hood already has some cracks in it. I am afraid if I got a rope, cable, chain up against the dang thing it will self destruct. I have a engine hoist but if I use it the cable will be against the hood. Thanks guys.

When I worked at the John deere dealership I did more mowers than I cared to admit. I drove them up plastic car ramps set the brake locked the wheels and with a stubby 3/8 Mac impact never had trouble getting them off. Some lawn tractor style mowers could be removed with the deck all the way up And lifted with blocks under the edges to keep it a bit higher than the linkages could get it.
One things for sure that stubby impact made a world of difference, its maybe 4 to 5 inches long

Ok... FIRST step.... make a front bumper and install it PDQ !!! Local dealer got out of MTD and I snagged 2 front bumpers for $20 each, even with free steel I can't make them (and fit right) in 20 minutes it took to buy them.....
NOW you can use whatever crane, hoist, lifting device and NOT damage the $$$$$ plastic hood......

the reason the plastic hood is BEAT UP is because the tractor dont have a BUMPER.... That should be installed DAY 1.
------------- Like them all, but love the "B"s.
