Can a moron rebuild a Delco distributor from a G? I bought the new bushing kit. How do you get the shaft out? Oh by the way I'm an electrical moron. TIA.

Haven't worked on a G but all distributors I've seen have a pin holding the gear on. Once the pin is removed you have to press the gear off. Once the gear is off the shaft will slide out the top.

Be sure to remove any burrs on the shaft and around the hole in the shaft.

.We did them when I was in trade school in 1980. I do remember the shaft seizing as you tried to pull it out, but most of those distributors had an aluminum body. Rotate the shaft and work it around with some wd40 to break down the varnish that makes it bind.
