Looking at a Allis 440 I know they didn’t build them but wondering if it is worth getting for a good price to fix or part out any ideas

Friend on mine had 2 of them. He liked them but traded both for an 8550. Both were used to custom apply NH3.

if you can't buy it for scrap weight price you will be sorry once you start spending/fixing to put in service. Has a lot of potential but will cost you.
Doub't much parts demand.

The triple nickel didn’t have a good reputation.

From what I’ve read the motor is like holding a gernade with the pin pulled.

My answer is, are your pockets deep enough for a serious money pit?  Do you have the mechanical skills/knowledge to do this?  Does this tractor have any family connections, or sentimental connections?

That's from my experience from one I am almost finished with, WD45, no connections to it.  Still wearing her work clothes, back up and running, full eng. rebuild with many new parts, machine work, etc.  I could have bought 2 or 3 running 45s.... if I had only known.... it would still be in the fence row.  I still need to wire her up and install an alternator... just keeps coming.  IMHO  you'll never (or I won't) be able to sell/recoup anywhere near what I have in her.  But hey, she runs.

If you are trying to "make money" here,FORGET IT !!! If you can't do the work your self or aren't mechanically inclined there's no chance. Experience is a GREAT teacher so one way or another you are about to learn something.

You do know it's a re badged Steiger?

For $2000 if it was close I’d jump. The Steiger version had a Kitty under the hood I think. Wonder if a derated 8.3 would work.   If you buy her Ben at Bug Tractor part is your friend.

I still have my 2 # 1576 and #1577. ---don't see a thing wrong with them or the 555 engines. Used mine for many years, course now I can't farm, so they set in a shed going to pot.
