My faithful ole Toro , It is the one with two hydro pumps and of course two hydro motors on the wheels.  Mod 74173  SN 990302.

This leak is getting serious.  It is on the lower part of the RH pump.  Oil is on the frame deck mostly.  I gunked it down this eve but did not do a good job so will have to clean some more.  Looking at parts catalog and the pump it seems that oil has to be coming out of something on the bottom of it like a seal since the hose connections and the top portion of the pump is clean.  oil accumulates on top the mower frame deck.

This is one of those old drive units that has a separate pump and motor for each wheel.

That pump is expensive.

Any experience out there on dealing with this.

Find a local rebuilder.  Most of the time, I can have a hydraulic motor or pump rebuilt, for half of less what the dealer wants.
