I just clicked on an ad for a straight M machine that had multiple pics. The pics of the cab showed the steering console being a curved round pipe coming from the R/H window console ?? The pipe only looked to be 1 1/2" in diameter so curious as to how/where the steering motor is and how there is enough room in the tube for hydraulic lines. Was this the standard layout for that machine ? Guess I'm used to the rectangle coming out of the center of the cab floor on the F and F2 LOL!!

early ones...I'm not sure when the change happened, but I had a '76 L that was that way,,, had amp and water temp in the steering 'console', rest of the gauges and moniter lights were to the right and down low...
kinda neat on the steering, there was nothing in the way of your feet...

Mice loved that tube, and enjoyed the taste of the wording.        MACK

All straight M's and L's were made that way.
That feature was dropped for the M2's and L2's.

Yes, there were 2 gauges on the side of the wheel Smile. Thanks for the replies, I thought someone "remodeled" the steering system LOLLOL.
