new spindle, used steering arm, tie rod and hub, knee machined for a sleeve to fit top bushing,, oh yea, a new key for the steering arm @ $32.00 from agco...shoulda got a pic of it before I got it put together,,,but I did not see any gold on it....  |

ok, I changed the topic title,,, maybe I can keep y'all up dated with what's happening with my 220, #1025 scrap iron..  I don't know if y'all can see the worn out keyway and more, the outside race spun in the hub so much, there was no way to "shim" it, ran loose enough the tire rubbed the tierod and wore it and steering arm, which was already loose and wore the spindle shaft... for Ted and others , the steering arm 'golden' key, this is the old one  picture is not real clear, but it has "ears" on it, and by measurements, most have concluded that it is a metric size more work today,, kinda getting it naked,, gotta replace some hydraulic lines,(if I can find some) hoses will all be new. gonna get after it with the HOT Hi pressure washer and clen it up a bit, then pull off the trans shifter, and rear end cover, take a look and see what gears look like.... the way this was treated as an unwanted stepchild, I hope it wasn't run low on oil too much...might get after the insides with the hot water too...  |

Michael, Yes now I see what your doing! As you probably know these have a way of getting in your wallet! I thought I was the only one that had a tractor that had a front end so bad that the trier leaned into the structure and wore it away!:) My uncles wide front WD was that bad! It had worn one of the bolts on the upper steering arm, almost completely away. Looks like your going to bring this one back. I wish you luck. Did you have this tractor running and use it for a while prior to the tear down? Keep us updated with some pictures too. Yea you just have to stop and take a few. do some more and stop and take a few. Michael, doing the same to mine 220. when I got mine they had put 22 inch truck tires on the front. I`ve got new spindles tires an rims for it . I took the cab off and got new fenders an misc stuff for it . Have fun ! |

no new pictures this time..haven't done much, got the dirt/grease/oil power washed off under the fuel tank,,now looking for Hydraulic lines, I need 70254704, this is from the pump line that goes in the valve body, 70254702, this is the line that goes to the 3 point cylinders, gonna pull off the trans shifter, and differential/final drive cover and have a look and see how the innards look, maybe shake things around to check for worn/bad bearings and such....it was quiet and stayed in all the gears for what little I have drove it around Chris; yea,, I know that this one is gonna get in the pocket book purty good, it need a complete out of frame engine overhaul,, jus a sleeve and piston kit isn't gonna do it. yea it was/is running, although not to good, its got a come and go miss, needs a good dose of ether to get started,,low on power..I just hope the big parts are good enough to reuse.. there are some other posts on when it got here, and another looking at different engines.. hafta go back a few pages I would like to take it to the GOTO at Clay Center NE in sept, but don't think I can get it done by then,, plan is to be going for GOTO 2021 at Hutch, it may not be pretty, but ready to get that way... |

I've just replaced all the hydraulic hoses on my 220 restoration project. Luckily have a farm equipment repair shop a mile away to make up custom hoses. I would drain the rear end and clean the screen on the suction tube to the hydraulic pump. It will amaze you with all the crap that has accumulated over 50 years. ------------- Nothing is impossible if it is properly financed |

Calvin;, already been there, its on a previous post somewhere, the suction screen was plum full of crap, the power steering quit, and I hope it was cause of the stopped up screen, BTW a new screen at AGCO was priced to me for $200.00  |
