I need to know a couple of dimensions of the PTO shaft of an AC 160 3 point mower. I want to know the length of the PTO shaft halves from the center of the cross on each one. Trying to make up a shaft from All Crop combine. Total length from end to center of cross is what I need. The manual gives a length, but i have no idea fro where they measured. Mine will have slip clutch at gear box end. Any help much appreciated. Thanks tracy

I have a mower but not sure how I'd measure it for you as it has all the shrouds and covers on. I also have the manual, but sounds like you do too.

Were all manufactured versions of the 160 the same like mine?

Garden-Guy, I have a mower like that also. The PTO shafts are different. I need the ones for a 3 point hitch, not the trail type mower. They are also different lengths for the 160 and 172 mowers. The manual shows the lengths, but no reference to what is measured. Thanks Tracy

two shafts.

Tracy, just happened to remember your post, today, as I passed by the old 160...  And I happened to have a tape measure, too!

Rear(male shaft), from the center of its U-joint bearing, 18-1/2"  Front (female shaft), same measurement, 28".

This is the factory shaft, on the factory mower, with the clicker clutch, and the rattle clutch, on the rear half!Wink

Tracy, if you post a picture of the rear half of your drive shaft, I might be able to tell if it is the same set up, as the one I have on the OEM 160 drive line...Wink

Tracey, I texted you the closed length, today.  31-31-1/2", closed length, bearing ctr to bearing ctr.  I may have omitted saying, mine is on a snap coupler OEM machine, with the ORC, at the gearbox, and integrated into the rear U-joint.  It also has the rattle clutch, at the back end of the male(rear) drive shaft. The rattle clutch adds no length to the rear shaft. However the clicker ORC might add about 3-4" to the length of the shaft, coming from the gearbox.HTHHug
