OK,, a bit of an update,,,,,, When the wife first started her Dialysis, the Dr's had put in a catherter in her left upper chest for the dialysis. They used those for bout 1 1/2 months to see how she was gonna take the dialysis. Then,,they put in a "fistula" on her left arm, which essentually ties two blood vessals together above the elbow area. The surgeon told us that her blood vessals were very small but he thought would be OK. Since that point she started to have pains on her left hand and her fingers were gettin numb. Then she started to get a black spot on the tip of her middle finger. I thought it was gettin infected, so took her again to see her PCP and they did a culture and it was negative but now she was in pain all the time. The nurses at Davita got her an Quick appointment with a specialist in Carlsbad and I took her yesterday. He knew immediately what problem was and he scheduled her for surgery next Tuesday Am. He told us she would probably lose the tip of her finger as it was already gone. I do not think she realizes what is happening and think I should sit down with her and let her know what is at stake, Gosh,,,what else,,,??

I am surprised her PCP didn't realize her finger tip spot was necrosis starting, being she is diabetic. I hope she doesn't lose much of it. I hope she is right handed. Hang in there pal.

Sorry to hear about what's going on with your wife and yourself.
Hang in there, I know it's rough.

I can relate because I know what my mom went through when my dad was sick.

Well,,,,for once I ain't got no gloom and Doom and mayhaps some good news for once,,,,Many, many THANKS for all of ya'll's Prayers and well wishes. They really helped.
The Specialist that operated on her is known as the best Vascular Surgeon in this part of the country and from what the Hospital Director told me, he has been recruited from several hospitals in Dallas, Houston and El Paso, but has chosen to stay in Carlsbad as his wife has family there,,,What Luck for us,,!!Clap
Anyway, the surgery went many wonderfuls and he is satisfied with the results. It seems the Dr that installed the fistula used a thingie ( I hate it when I can't remember those terms) that was too big and was allowing too much blood to go back to her heart and not enough to go to the fingertips. You could tell he was so friggin upset with the first Dr but being a true professional,,,he would not elaborate, altho,,,he did assure us she would be ok from this repair. Also, He did not do anything bout the black fingertip as he feels that the increased blood flow would reenergize the tissue around that area and he would only have to scrape the dead tissue in his office. She has a followup in one week when he would decide then how, and what......but,,,her whole arm and hand has gotten a nice healthy color to it instead of the pale look it had before surgery.
I had to get her up at 6 AM for the trip and she fell asleep soon as we got home and she wasn't moaning and groaning like she has been,,,,,,I'm better now, my own self,,,, AGAIN,,,many Thanks MY FRIENDS,,,what would I do without all of ya'll,,,,Clap
