I just bought a piece of 5/16” brake line to make a fuel line for my old truck project. It’s the line that goes from the fuel pump to the carb. I also bought a tube bender kit and it made neat work on this project. I cut the end off the brake line and noticed that it appears to be copper lines.
I’ve been told in recent years to stay away from copper on fuel lines. What do y’all say?
This brake is a dark army green color on the outside and copper inside.

from the net, 1st google search of 'using copper lines for gasoline'...

The US Coast Guard requires copper fuel lines on gasoline engines (see here), a google search revealed that copper tubing is used in the refining of gasoline (not as an active element or anything) and OEM lines are often copper lined or made from drawn copper.Nov 17, 2006

dang if it's good enough for them.... USE IT !!!

I had an old guy that sold 9N Fords new tell me not to use steel because of rust developing if the tractor sat with the tank empty. He recommended copper

We use copper on generator fuel lines and have for years. Not the same thing as we use diesel but that's what we use

Come back and tell us when it leaks due to the vibration.  Soft plumbers copper will often crack at the flare when use on something with vibration, like in automotive use. Most quality brake lines are a copper alloy that is plated on the outside to prevent rust and will bend easily as well as stand up to vibration.

I agree with Paul 100%.  Plumbing copper is no good, I have never had any problems using 5/16 brake line for fuel on my tractors.  Use the tube benders and paint them up, they will look stock!
