Hey Gents- I have a D17 Series 1... has lift arms, and a currently unused outlet. I'll be mounting a low-vol/high pressure loader with hydraulic curl that is in full op on a Series 2, using all the OEM hydraulics. My question is... how are the Series 1 and 2 hydraulics different? is it just the presence of a selector valve, or a second control, different column, double-acting valves, etc? And finally: Is it a reasonable possibility to adapt Series 2 hydraulics to a Series 1 tractor? ------------- Ten Amendments, Ten Commandments, and one Golden Rule solve most every problem. | Series 1, 2 and 3 are essentially all the same. 3700 psi max pressure at about 4.5 GPM. Anything more than the two levers on the steering column are added on, either factory option or homemade. |

Hmmm... okay... then the loader probably has a selector valve bolted on at the operator's station somewhere. The lift cylinders are single-acting, but the dump cylinder is DA. Hmmm... well, the price is right, I'll figure the rest out. I was thinking that I'd seen extra outlets, possibly a selector valve or similar on other series, and did not know if they were factory or added.   this is what he had on the Series II. I'm certain that this is some sort of Allis setup, but I'm not certain wether it was a factory option for the Series II, or dealer-installed, or a combination of Allis and other parts, but the script on the controls, and on the hydraulic outlet housing all looks 'company' to me. Can anyone provide enlightenment on what this is, and where I could find this same setup to install on my Series 1? ------------- Ten Amendments, Ten Commandments, and one Golden Rule solve most every problem. | 3-spool valve to the left of the seat was an option. Could have been Factory ordered OR FIELD installed. Allows operation of 2-double acting cylinders at 2,000 psi. Requires locking the Lift/Lower lever on the steering wheel in the "UP" position for it to work. You can also operate the lift arms from this valve too and there is a lock for that spool to leave it in the raise position all the time. There is a relief valve that is adjustable for using 2,000 psi cylinders or A-C 3,000+ psi cylinders. The "Transport Valve" behind the seat was also an option that was usually included with the 3-spool valve accessory. Hard to find, but a junkyard is where to start looking. |

| Mount a crank driven pump on front of crankshaft, then use the fender mounted valve and have a good live hydraulic system. MACK |

Actually, Mack- I have a front coupling installed, and extension shaft, and pump waiting... that valve combination, and it's mount would be perfect... ------------- Ten Amendments, Ten Commandments, and one Golden Rule solve most every problem. Citrus hand-cleaner with Pumice does the rest. |
