| we are now chicken-less, what ever is out there got them all, one by one, and in the daytime. PfffffT! we want more, but now it'll be awhile (and a lot more feed) before we get any more eggs! Tyler you gots any layers to spare? |

Sorry to hear that Shammer, it's not just the eggs, it's missing your friends to cackle with, to crow about, to share the hen pecking order with. I gotta get out of this house. The last time I lost my ladys like that, it was a big old skunk. | Sounds like a coyote, fox or a raccoon. We had a hen we called the escape hen. Always escaping the pen. She would make a nest and lay her eggs. Wife said she's just trying to get away from the others let he stay outside. I said she will be dead! Next morning all I found was a pile of feathers! |

3 neighbours had hens, yummm fresh eggs, then nutty neigbour started feeding the foxes and coons.. yeah...no more hens... $10K fine for feeding fox..she's never been charged, was 'warned'... with city in shutdown, she's again feeding the fox....sigh.... it'll get within 10' of you wish I could get a 'carry' permit... ------------- 3 D-14s,A-C forklift, B-112 Kubota BX23S lil' TOOT( The Other Orange Tractor) Never burn your bridges, unless you can walk on water |

| We got down to one rooster and one hen. Then something got the hen and the rooster was lonely. So I found six more hens on local sales network and I got them. Now we are down to four. I saw a fox running off with one last Monday. During the day just like you said. I don't know how to stop it, you can't sit and guard them all day. The fox will be back when you aren't around. |

We have a kennel / run area set up next to or chicken house and we keep Ol Rex { Great Dane} in the Kennel during the day and have no predator issues. and he just loves his job. ------------- I support the development of hybrid automobiles and alternative fuels as I need DIESEL fuel for my ALLIS CHALMERS! |

| My granddad told of seeing a fox grab a chicken and toss it upon his back while holding by the neck and running away. Gramp got the shotgun and followed figuring the fox would get tired and stop and eat the chicken. Gramp must have been a good tracker and quiet as he said he shot the fox! |

I've been at this 4 years now. Two different flocks and haven't lost one yet. Solution is a Parmak fencer running 13,000 volts hooked to a 4 wire fence the around the yard they run around in during the day, and a tight house that repels all boarders at night. My daughter lost two flocks same was as you. Fox.....kept snooping around the chicken house for a month or so even after the last one was gone. Broad daylight. |

| last year I put an electric wire around the top of the chicken pen, a coon found it the very first night! all the squaller'in that went on out there. it musta told all the other coons about it cuz we didn't have any problems for several months. then again they started disappearing again...in the daylight time. I happened to be going out back in my electric cart and came up behind a fox with one of my chickies in it's mouth. it didn't hear me coming up from behind (the wind was blowing a tad) and I flat ran his butt over, it finally hobbled away before I could go gits the gun, but found it deceased a little farther down the road ditch the next day. I've seen a few here all winter,but could never get a shot off...they're FAST! but we never lost any chickies all winter this year. til now. now they have them all, only have guinias left, for some reason nothing tries for them? still have the little goat too, maybe i'll call Toms wife in IA and see if she wants it! |

A mink killed my flock of chickies last fall. My turkeys were killed by neighbor's effn dog, and I swear an eagle killed/ate my flock of idiots, er, guinias. I might pick us some cornish cross this spring, sure miss the fresh eggs. ------------- 1955 WD45 S#205467, 190XT #6652 DXT |
