What big round baler would you recommend for a tractor with single remote? How about a Hesston 1734? |

That might do it. You are probably going to need 12v for a monitor and I'm certain you'll need 2 way hyd to run the bale door. AaronSEIA

| I would not recommend the 45 for that purpose. Need two way hydraulics, may be a little light for any hills, and most of all— your safety unless you are in a habit jumping off from the front. |

Thanks for the response. Specs for the 1734 are: 30 Hp tractor 3x4 550# bale (max) 1 double acting remote electric tie weight 2780# If the baler and bale weigh 3330# why shouldn't the WD45 handle it on level ground? |

| I would think you'd be alright. The tractor with rear fluid will weigh 4500 lbs. 12 volt battery/alternator and a 2-way valve plumbed into your hydraulic system should be all you need. |

| As big round bails are concerned a 3X4 is on the smallish side so the 45 is plenty big enough. Maybe not on real rough ground, but all we ever did was load the front tires and it corrected any problem we had. Learn your tractor and then drive it off into the sunset. Leon |

I've run a New Holland 851 with a WD45 6 cylinder gas that was a diesel originally with a double acting remote hooked into the original hydraulics.Not the best set up but it can be done.Loaded rear tires and wheel weights on some pretty good hills.Was glad to get my 180back at the time.

I've round baled for years, with a D-10, and a Hesston 5530 1 2way hyd, and rope trip tie. Been on some pretty steep hills, too!. Bodge a good hyd pump on the front of the WD, and you're good to go! ------------- Source: Babylon Bee. Sponsored by BRAWNDO, its got what you need! |

| Well I guess the opinion is that you are good to go. I have been on the fender or running a round Baler since 1981 when we got our first Vermeer and I’ll say this; I would imagine a very dusty day that close to the pickup. You can check for noted flaws with that series Baler if any exist. My neighbor bought a small Case the other year and spends a lot of time off the tractor (not sure of the issues that he has) but guess it’s with the tie, starting bales, etc... you learn with experience and when your hot and dusty the brain isn’t always at it best. One day he was off the tractor for awhile and I went over to help. I saw him laying there without a shirt sleeve. I know things can happen anywhere, but round Balers to me are more dangerous because you usually want to see it running to address issues. Baler’s have improved along ways over the years and that Heston might be a great machine. I’m sure the 45 will have the power and you can add a valve. Might want to make sure the cylinders are compatible as well. Best of luck! |

Just gotta look at the 1734, it sure looks like the baler I use, with a few improvements. I would recommend is to get the spring loaded kicker kit, its worth the $. also, if its equipped with the short crop starter bar, remove that thing, immediately, its 90% of any problems, in starting a bale! We had a new Deere 335 4x4 baler with electric tie. Dad often ran it with his 3 cylinder 2040 which was 40 hp. I prefered my 2510 54 hp or a 3020. Another baler to consider is the New Idea 484 4x5 or the 483 4x4. They were also sold as a CaseIH. The Hesston is a good baler as well. Tom |

The obvious answer is a Roto-Baler. No hydraulics or 12 volt electrical source needed. They can be adjusted to make a bale 150+ pound bale. ------------- If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere. Real pullers don't have speed limits. If you can't make it GO... make it SHINY |

You'll need two way hydraulics and 12 volt neg ground electric for monitor. That being said I have a Hesston 740. By the specs you've given, it sounds like it's the same as a Hesston 730. Good balers. Nice and simple. You won't set any speed records in heavy hay-run my 740 with 65 hp (I think 45 hp is recommended for the 740) and it definitely makes the tractor grunt in heavy hay but I do double up 2 9 foot windrows when I bale.... I would think the 45 may have its hands full..... |

Growing up my grandpa and I ran a WD45 with a Heston Rounder 5400. Was a good match for the WD45. It was a ground roll baler and the gate was hydraulic up and gravity down and it had a 12v twine tie. It was fairly simple and easy to maintain. It didn’t make the greatest looking or tightest of bales but the cows never seemed to care.
