I have a 1961 d15 series 1 it has the one original outlet on it now. But would like to add one more outlet for a return so that I can run a gravity wagon with an auger on it.

Thanks cory

If it's the same as my D-14s, there's a flush plug on the left side of the hydraulic portion of the cast, you unscrew that and plumb in 3/8" fitting for a 'return' line.

Ok. Where is this flush portion of the hydraulic cast? Hydraulic cast? Don't mean to sound dumb.

Thanks cory

Is it the Allen head plug left side of tractor by clutch pedal?

Just near where the return line is now for the one hydraulic outlet?

yup, that should be it.
I don't have a return line, just the steel pressure going from valve to the 'rockshaft'.
I know th ePO had 'something' he needed a return line for.

also that's high pressure (3200#) to be sure whatever hydraulic motor or cylinder you're powering is GOOD for that pressure !!

Any orbit motor I have been around (for running a wagon auger) is rated for 2,500 psi. As long as you never "stalled" the motor, you would never see the 3,000 to 3,400 psi the tractor pump is capable of producing. I think you'll be fine. If concerned, the simplest cure would be to install a small 2,500 psi relief valve between your supply hose and the return hose. It would be part of the auger/motor assembly.

Maybe you could give a little more information here. Why do you need a return line? Are you trying to run an orbit motor with the tractor hydraulics?

I have the OEM hard line that was used for the return when a transport or auxiliary valve was installed on a D14/15.

The biggest concern of running a orbit motor with the Hi-Pressure-Low-Volume system on an Allis Chalmers after the possibility of over pressuring it, would be how painfully slow it would be at only about 5 GPM.  A Wagner PTO pump would be just the ticket.

If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere.
Real pullers don't have speed limits.
If you can't make it GO... make it SHINY

I'm not sure if the series I D15 hydraulics are any different than a D14s, but I've tried running an orbit motor on a small bin sweep with my D14. It worked but was really slow and it overheated the hydraulic oil in no time. I think you'd be better off with a pto pump.

Just my 2 cents...

That's exactly what will happen with the D15. Might as well put a hand crank on the auger Wink

I added another outlet to the rear of my D14.  I use it to run a Long, 3 point backhoe.  I have not had an issue with the high pressure blowing anything apart, nor have I experienced any problems with sluggish movement.  It works just like it was designed to work.  It has a pto pump and a reservoir in the frame on the hoe, but it would have taken a lot of money and time to get them working again.  I'm glad I listened to my non AC friends that told me to run it off of the tractor.

Once in a desperate pinch i tried to run our 6" hydraulic drill fill auger with my d15 series 2 by just taking the return coupler off and sticking the hose in the fill tube. It barely turned the auger. Had to give up and just wasted more time trying.
