Maybe not so much a question
Looking for some mower bolts for someone and thought this was interesting. It's the bolt 803983. In the mower parts book section 1 April 1962 page 125 mower guards #16 description says 803983 is (7/16"X 1-1/8") and in the mower parts book section II June 1961 covering 80 series mowers on page 57 cutter bar& knife. describes that 803983 bolt as (7/16"X1").
Thought it was funny the same bolt is 1/8" difference between books

Later model mowers had thicker bars. Longer bolts can be used with thinner bars.

If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere.
Real pullers don't have speed limits.
If you can't make it GO... make it SHINY

Yea I understand that part of it Paul but that's the same part number. I see all the other numbers with different lengths and weather there's top clips an wear plates or regular or forged or heavy duty guards.

So.......I have a mower manual date 5-66 and it has the same bolt part number with two different sizes on different pages in the same book.
As was said, the early bars were 5/8" and the later were 3/4".
I'm "guessing", since, as already said, the longer bolt will work in both bars, at some point the longer bolt was supplied for all applications and A-C just never changed the part number.
The lengths of bolts for all the other guard and bar applications are unchanged whether thick or thin bar.
