When over hauling the hyd pump do I need to remove the check valve seat and the discharge valve seats? I do believe they may be stuck as they do not want to come out. And maybe this is why my pump does not want to work properly. If they do need to come out to be cleaned how do I make this happen? Thanks

What are the symptoms your WD45 is having?

Jared,
I hate to admit that when I have taken a couple of these apart for cleaning and o-rings I have not memorized the names of the items. I guess I dont do enough of them, or I am lazy? A picture of the items in a exploded view might help too.
I have used Bill at Sandy Lake to walk me through a question or two on these. He is very good. Others like MACK or Dr. Allis may be able to answer this too.

Also wanted to say welcome to the forum. The WD45 is one of my favorites!
Regards,
 Chris

Thanks for the response! And I’m glad to be here. I do believe I found my answer in the service manual. Looks like o rings and springs bought all that would need to be replaced. Everything looks good just needed a good cleaning. Shall see what happens when I get it back in tomorrow!

Jarred,
Ok I see the two parts you mention and I do not believe that have removed those seats. Item 51 or item 46.
There are a bunch of parts in these. I am always a little intimidated. I would rather tear into the engine than one of these!:)

 Chris

After reading the service manual and reading several forums I do believe they do not come out! So good cleaning and o-rings and hope it works! Thanks for responding Chris

Jared,
Not a problem. Hope it helps on your project. Best thing is go slow and clean and assembly per your exploded parts view.
Sometimes I respond too much. Many guys on here, that have forgot way more than I know about these old tractors!
Regards,
 Chris

No need to remove seats. If you do want to remove them, use a fine thread tap to thread them then use a slide hammer to pull them.      MACK

After you THINK it's clean, clean it ALL again ! I had to do my CA pump 3X to get ALL the crud out.... I used 1000grit sandpaper to 'polish' the spool valves and other shiny things....even the check ball that went 'walkabout' for 2 hours...

When I did the pump for the 'Build a B' I got 2 new balls for each check valve. Place a new ball in on the seat and rap the ball with a punch and hammer. Remove that ball and put the other new one in for reassembly. This is supposed to reform the seat, if there happens to be any imperfections in the seat that might cause a leak.
