Having trouble with a 6080 clutch, couldn't adjust cable enough to get clutch to release. Split tractor and didn't see anything obvious, haven't measured anything yet because I just got a book with specs. Question is, if plates and discs are within tolerance, has anybody had any luck adjusting pressure plate fingers. Hate to spend a lot of time and put it back together only to find out that I should have spent $1000 on a new one!

Let's start from the beginning. The tractors clutch was working just fine and now it won't release ???
And which clutch won't release?? the PTO clutch or the traction clutch ???

Sorry wasn't very clear, with clutch pedal pushed down, I cannot put transmission or pto in gear, lots of gear grinding. Have to shut engine off to put trans and pto in gear. Tractor moves when in gear and clutch completely depressed. Don't know much past history of tractor.

Is there a lot clutch material- dust in the bell housing ? I wouldn't move anything on those fingers till you know the cause ; they are fine adjustments between the engine clutch and pto ; make sure the cable isn't binding and working properly
