Wife will NOT start Christmas decorating until after Thanksgiving, then it is wide open. By New Years day the tree is down and back in the attic,

I’ve spent the weekend pulling up tile and scraping thinset. The wife informed me last night the sooner the better cause she can’t put up the Christmas tree until I’m done.
And and and right then and there I SAID I said I said nothing.

Our Artificial is STILL in its box in the basement where it WILL remain until AFTER T-Day.

Our artificial is up and has lights on it, in the basement covered with plastic.  I never take it apart, just drag the whole thing up and down the stairs.

Hey John,  And here I thought I was the only one that ever did that dastardly deed.  Covered it with a sheet.

I wrapped ours tight with plastic till it is much smaller and doesn't take up as much space.  And it is not getting brought down and put up till TG is over with.

i'm with Hubert, so is the old lady...ooooops...I mean the loving wife. she is now allergic to fresh pine, and I haven't liked the fony trees out there, so if we do have a decorated tree, it'll be a real one in a pot (live tree) and put on the deck, then we plant it in the spring. she does have a couple of the fony 2 ft ones scattered in the house, but they are decorated as to what the holiday is or each season. right now they are on the fall season and will soon be decorated for Thanksgiving, then prolly Christmas, then winter.

If ad execs and some large retailers had their way, commercials and "sales" would start just after the 4th of July.
Gone are the days when you could go cut your own around the 15th of December, make sure it was well watered to prevent fires and needle drop mess before taking it down January 1st or 2nd for safety.
With 8 kids, we trimmed ours up from the bottom enough to place it in a 5 gln. bucket with crushed stone. Left plenty of room for the pile of gifts and kept the wiener dogs from drinking from the old standard 3-legged tree stands that just were a tad weak for a bigger tree.
Now the artificial trees seem the norm, easy up and down and don't have to trudge through the snow although that was part of the fun back then.
Fond memories of dragging one out with Dad to lash it atop the ol' 63 Country Squire nine passenger wagon, with baling twine.
Yeah, I'm showing my age!

Well you all know the saying about happy wife, happy life so without being told I dragged the box up from the closet downstairs and put the tree up today for her. I doubt it will get decorated until after Thanksgiving but my part is done!!
