I am looking for a pair of rims, would like to change from the 20.8s that I have. I need new tires so I thought it a good time to change out the rims and tires. I use the tractor for planting corn and side dressing. I would have to change out the front tires as well but the smaller size on the front would help with turning radius. I am in swoh if someone knows of a set for sale. thanks m rieger

Cant you go 18.4x 42s and keep the same size fronts?

Yes I and that would be even better but those are as rare as hens teeth. Got a set I'll take them. Thanks for the comment guess I should have thrown that out there.

18.4x42 drop center rims with rails on them might not bolt up. I have put 18.4x38 tires on 20.8x38 rims. If you are mounting them with tubes make sure you use HD radial tubes in the tires. The 18.4x48 bias tubes were terrible.

Rare?  42s are everywhere.

Going with 42s would require different centers or new rims that would fit my 38 centers I don't want to put that much into it. Going with 18.4 x 38 rims would allow me to go with 13.6 x 28 on the front using my same rims which I hope will allow the tractor to turn shorter thus achieving two things. Thanks for your thoughts, helps me think through the options. Should be plenty of 18.4 x 38s out there.

I would think salvage yards would have plenty. Brother in law has run 20.8's on 30in rows spraying and side dressing for 40+ years in a JD but I get the "make life easier" thing. I side dress with my 8070/18.4's and axle duals....just drive and don't look back. I figure if the neighbor can side dress with narrow track Cat,I can tromp the end rows with duals.
