I turned 64 Oct 22, and retired today after 36 years working for a electric utility company. It was odd to hand my keys and company ID in. My wife Joyce has planned a big retirement dinner at a local Inn  tonight.  Tim

Nice looking truck in the picture. Oh suppose to be of yourself. Just poken you. Congratulations on your retirement!! You won't have to be out fixing downed wires in the ice and snow this winter. I'm sure that sooner or later you will be like me and take another job to keep you out of trouble but the good thing is you will be able to walk away whenever you like. I live off my pension and my job supports my tractor collecting habit. CONGRATULATIONs TIM!!!

Now you can play the "I live on a fixed income" card when needed. Thumbs Up

And congrats, 36 yrs at a job is an accomplishment itself yet alone in a tough field of work.

Tim, congratulations on your well earned retirement. You will miss getting up and going to work at times and at other times you will be glad you don't have to. You will be expected to get right on that honey-do list now.

Just got back home. We all had a good time. They wanted me to tell them a good story from the past. I had a good one. Might be a little long to post on here. Thanks everyone for your replies on my retirement. It felt good to set the phone down on the counter tonight knowing I won't be getting called out anymore.  Tim

Beig able to do it at your request is a great way to call it quits from a job .
Seems I had 39 1/2 years at same company and they closed down and sold out to a place on east coast - so at 60 I had to find another job . Was the same time the construction industry took a nosedive so my excavating sideline did also .
Finding another job was hard at that time so decided to take advantage of funds to go to college on TRA / TAA program - My degree in building inspection ended up being another dead end ...So trucking came next until I could get self and wife on Medicare .
Ah them Golden Years - ENJOY THEM - and all those things you plan on doing - right after that second cup of coffee - do them .

The day flew by. I did all kinds of projects, and finally able to start on my wood pile. Thanks for all your encouragement. Ranse, I remember asking you at Hutch, if you were going down to watch the field demos. But you were going on the bus tour. So in 2021 one of the GOTO's will be there. Maybe this time you and your wife will come w/ us.
