Did the D-10 ever have a live pto in them? I have been told that it was a 2 piece pto shaft from flywheel back. Thanks Gary

After SN 3500 it had live PTO. It had a hollow shaft around the clutch shaft for the PTO.

Thanks guys. A friend was wondering about finding parts to put live pto in his tractor. Have a good day. Gary

A solid shaft was splined in to the Engine Fly Wheel and provided continuous power to the rear PTO and Hydraulic Pump.

A Hollow Shaft was splined to the Foot Clutch and provided power to the Transmission.

I would call it independant power take off. It can be started or stopped reguardless of tractor motion or lack of motion

That is interesting. I would like to take one apart and see how they arranged it. Maybe they published a cut away drawing?  And why did A/C change it, was the first D10/D12 not selling well? People figured it was less capable than the CA?

The CA had the ability to use the hand clutch to stop and continue power. First 10/12 couldn't do that.
The live power option they came up with works quite well but I hear the quill shaft is weak. I tend to treat mine easily as this was the only tractor that had those parts.
