I am looking for a starter for one of my B's and the listing says it fits "Allis Chamenrs B 1955 to 1957 and CA 1955-1958". I was under the impression all B starters were the same. Did the B change starters in the late models?

I can rebuild yours if you have one for your B. If you don't have one, I have a pile of cores that I got in from Ken one of our family members here. I should be able to put one together for ya.. Let me know if I can help.... Steve@B&B

The later B had the same starter as the CA. The difference was in the nose piece. The switch on the CA was on the top of the starter. The switch on the early B was on the bottom of the starter.

One of mine uses a key switch like a car. ---thats another option, I assume it was converted down the line.

It would have to have been converted.

The difference in the nose piece is just the dowel hole location is 180ยบ from one to the other. No big deal to drill a new hole so the switch is on the top or bottom.
