Since I have the floor up and the panel off of my 7010 I'd like to adjust the range lever. The Speed lever now works flawlessly through all six gears, neutral and reverse. However the range lever is still sticky. It comes out of Park smoothly. But once you go through the gate and attempt high or low it's a struggle. There is no apparent slop in the cable ends at either end. It just doesn't want to go. To the point it deflects the shift tower and mechanism. The "C" clamp and block that secures the cable to the side of the shift mechanism housing is secure.

So. I take the cable off at the range transmission end and the P/L/H shifter operates through the gate pattern without any issues.

Cable at 9:00 position seems to be the culprit. If I push down on the bracket its other end is hooked to I can easily shift into high. But not low.

This is the bracket. Now,is it the cable or the adjustment of the bracket?

In bottom picture, put a 70514773 spring from cable arm and anchor for cable. Then in top picture, shorten small cable.       MACK

Is that what the two holes I see are for? One in the cable anchor bracket and in the arm the cable eyelet ties to? That's where the spring goes?

Unhook the small cable under the floor and push the short shifter all the way to the right and then see how LOW-N-HIGH works. You still may need a new small cable because it is old and stiff.

I hadn't got that far yet. Pushed it over with the cable still attached before I quit yesterday. This is definitely the time to replace the cable if it's wore. Bunker hill(?) has them on eBay. Is there a part number or specific description so I get the correct one?

70262452 is the p/n for the side shift cable. When installing a new cable, be gentle and do not kink it anywhere. If you damage it during the installation, it will never work right.

Got this side shift cable installed. Now how do I fine tune it?

Use mechanics wire instead of a plastic zip tie. Adjust one or both ends for length so you can get it into the "park" groove and the High-N-Low groove without fighting it. There should be a spring inside the console to help pull it out of the park groove.

Spring is there. So longer reduces shifting effort?

The small side shift cable just positions the shift lever under the floor to align with the park rail or motion rail. The only effort change is if you are in-line it will shift easy. Not in-line and you will be forcing things. When the original 7030/7050 were in their prototype infancy, there was apparently going to be a shift lever thru the floor. Then, that changed to a quiet cab and cables were then the choice of shifting control. So, the short lever under the floor has to be moved 100% side-to-side to allow easy and complete shifting of the front to back motion.
