This conversion is a project like many others on my Series III that I have researched and stored parts for until my retirement. Unfortunately I didn't take very good notes. I thought that I could use the later model 175 alternator brackets but it's not going together and lining up with with the crank pulley like it should. The brackets bolt up fine to the front engine support. I must have seen this on the forum years ago - maybe it was just an orange dream. And I can't seem to find it in a search. Does anyone who has done this with the 175 brackets have any pictures?

Sorry - it's a gas, not diesel.

One-Seventy gas water pump and crank pulley are the same location as a gas D-17, so your lower alternator brackets should be fine. The D-17 upper tensioner bracket has to have a notch cut in it to clear the power steering pump and leave the cooling fan off of the alternator (for power steering belt), assuming you are using a Delco brand.

DrAllis - you are right. I was trying to mount the smaller Denso alternator which, of course, was not the 170 stock unit. It appears that everything will line up with the Delco unit.
