Finally talked myself into going to audiologist thru my regular Doc, nearly failed my DOT physical last time due to hearing, this time would have been a definite fail. Hearing aids ordered three weeks ago came in yesterday, fitting was today. Walked outside heard a cricket by the curb and cicadas across the road. Guy asked me if a problem told him had not heard the locust in awhile, he said been driving him nuts for weeks, I had heard NONE of them.

My own voice seems muted, all too many New old noises around me had not heard in forever so taking this slow, are currently in their recharger for the night.

DMiller,
Glad you got those and are getting tuned back in! I know my hearing is not as good as it once was. Not looking forward to hearing aids. Wife says I need them.
Regards,
 Chris

There are a few states, MI. is one of them that allow anyone sells hear aids that want to, have to be registered by the state.
So be sure to find a true Audiologist to go to.

When I graduated from High School in 1965, me and 4 friends volunteered to the Navy thru their "Buddy-Buddy Plan" as we felt we had to go do our part in Viet Nam. They had a big sendoff for us at the Bus depot and headed out to Albuquerque for the Physicals,, I wound up takin the dang hearing test 4 times before the base commander told me I was not going to pass and they were sending me back home because my hearing was so bad,,,CHit I never knew it was that bad,,tho. I guess the good Lord had better plans for me to stay here as the first Viet Nam casualty from New Mexico was from our graduating class,,,,,,,,,Poor Sammy
I been gettin by all these years and the first time I used a hearing aid up in the mountains so I could hear them Elks bugling,,,,,I heard so much Chit I hadn't ever heard,,,I took it off cause I liked the peace and quiet lots better,,,,,LOL

Well,,I have tried some of those that AARP advertises that are the kind that hang over your ear with a little tube that goes into the ear but I did not like em cause they amplify "everything" where you can't tell what's important,,,if that makes any sense,,,,,Wink

Friend needs hearing aids. Went to several stores where they sold them. Finally made an appointment with an Audiologist. What a difference he said. The people at the stores just cranked up the volume until you could hear! Audiologist tested for different levels of loss and adjusted accordingly! Now he can hear what is going on! I have selective hearing according to my Dearly Beloved!

Yep school was over for summer Dad and uncle were fixing combines, parts run at noon lunch in town and they let me go.Clap Back there in 67? or as a kid didn't get lunch in town. But anyway left a tire to be repaired before lunch off the pickup. Had the shop put it back on truck, driving down main street. Dumb kid sitting in the middle says that tire is hissing,my old man Confused WHAT ARE YOU SAYING you cannot hear that. Uncle says just pull over, sure enough that tire is hissing away. So we made it back to the tire store before it was to flat to drive. Oh the fun of them tires with a tube to pinch.LOL But not no more, Cry all the dang old tractors and chainsaws, and other stuff.Cry

Wink One the old neighbors had got hearing aids more than once but not much better. About 10 years ago,new or better audiologist and a new kind of aid, just helped with the tone that was bad or something. All of a sudden he could hear every little thing his wife would whisper.Clap Well it only lasted a month or so,Confused there was speculation if it really wore out the tone he used  Confused or Wink maybe one or both parties decided there could be to much information between spouses.

Mine were pricy, the Audiologist testing was paid by my insurance less $40 visit cost, then the custom molded ear plugs an added $40 each, the aids themselves are made in Switzerland(PHONAK) and are adjustable to specific tone levels for the wearer where my insurer will pay some(currently being processed and my percentage was $500. I will be responsible for the remainder after insurance pays their portion of $4600(pair).

To me so far I am thinking may just be worth that expense.

They were designed to be charged at night so you`d have an excuse not to hear the lil` woman.

Wish $4600.00 was all mine cost, $6,500.00 and insurance didn't cover any of it. But I can hear the birds and I couldn't without them. At that time Uncle Sam wouldn't help either but I am being told he will now, but these have a 4 year warranty so I will wait till it runs out before I check with Uncle Sam

I agree it is "worth it" if  you can regain hearing............. on the other hand, look at the size and PARTS in each piece... $6000.  !!!   Give me a BREAK !  You can buy  10 washing machines or  5 refrigerators for that price !!  HOW is it worth that ?

Like them all, but love the "B"s.
