So there must be a few folks that know how cool (or hot) the 8050 or 8070s run. My brother and I each run one for haying up in Montana and we often run in 80-90 degree days. Both round bale or rake and both run about 200-210. Is this as cool as we can expect. Both have 180 degree thermostats and radiators are cleaned. Good shrouds. Do you have any ideas? Would a new radiator be a good idea? They are $1000!. Will that fix or help? Any ideas will help. Thanks

If they have good pressure cap and don't get any hotter, that is the best place to keep them.        MACK

I guess it seems hotter than I'm used to. Balers and 20 wheel rakes dont take that much power. How do these tractors run in the midwest at 85 degrees and really working?? Plow or cultivator? Not arguing but I think I could overheat either tractor if not constantly monitoring it. Again any insight would make me feel better.

I would check temp with an infrared gauge, I thought my 8070 was running warm but the gauge reads high.

Recore your radiator with 7 rows of tubes. Problem solved. The frame is already wide enough.

Clean inside of tubes would lower temperature.      MACK

Design specs as I understand them are this: the cooling system should maintain the engine temp at 100 degrees over ambient temps under (full) load. This would mean on an 80 degree day with the tractor working your actual coolant temps should be 180 degrees. That was when the tractor was brand new and everything clean.

Are they really clean?

My 8030 ran warm took to air hose and blew it out no help. Pulled radiator and CAREFULLY pressure washed it and never had issues since. It appeared clean but really wasn’t.

And don't forget about the foam and side seals to make it pull all the air through the radiator....

I'll pull the radiator again. I power washed it this spring when I put a new motor in it and it was pretty dirty. In the 7 core is that something any radiator shop could fab? Is it just deeper than the original?

The shop I work with orders the cores to measurements.

I hate to ask how much a 7 core radiator costs. The shop guy I talked to gasped over the phone when I mentioned it.

Last one I did was $1275. Cheep if you ruin a $12000 engine.

I agree. Replacements are a grand an probably made overseas. Thanks for all the input. I'll make it run cool. I guess I never thought about the filters but I'll replace them. They both looked good but that doesn't mean much. Thank you!!

I just had one recored for a customers 8070 with the 7 row core. It was $900. Mine also has the 7 row core in it and runs in the bottom third of the temp gauge most all the time.

Our 8050 had been running warm several years ago. Took it to a rad shop and had it rodded. Made a huge difference. They have to be clean inside and out. Good luck
