Fuel gauge quit working on my 180. How do you tell if is the gauge or the sending unit?

Take the wire off at the sending unit and with the key on touch the wire to anywhere on the tractor (ground the wire).  If the gauge is working it will show all the way full or all the way empty(I can't remember which). If the gauge does not move when  doing this then check if the gauge has power going to it,(test light). If it has power going to it and it will not move by grounding the sending unit wire then the gauge is bad.
