Hi. I recently acquired a One Ninety XT with the traction boost and position control levers. I have no idea what these are for. Well not true I know the concept of the traction control loading and unloading the back tires. What I dont know is how the two levers work with each other? How I achieve a floating situation with the 3 point? why is the depth position control lever stuck all the way back? can I run my mower without damaging something if I hook it up with this lever frozen? Yes I have ordered a manual but really need to mow sooner rather than later. Im asking because I dont want to damage anything by having it out of adjustment . thanks for your knowledge.

I assume its set up the same way my 200 is. There are three levers on the side console that deal with 3pt. 1. the traction booster 2. the position control 3. the remote lever closest to the fender (should be three levers in a row?). TB and PC are settings for using 3pt to do work, while the remote lever is the one you play with. Mine has 4 positions. hold all the way back to raise( i think), first detent forward of that is "hold", next detent is "booster" or something like that. then hold all the way forward to lower. I may have the lift and lower backwards. I would think you need to use that lever to set the mower where you want, and then put in "hold" to keep it there. But take this all with a grain of salt because i have had this tractor 2 weeks now and havent done any 3pt work, just read the manual and moved 3pt out of the way so i could mow with the haybine. Not sure why your position control lever wont move, maybe check Hyd. oil level and that a linkage isnt bound up ------------- Farmin' with 1981 7010 PD, 1983 6080, 1983 8010, Gleaner R42 in Darke County OH |

Hi L Stone and welcome aboard to the forum!  The TB and PC levers work in conjunction with the 3 point. I ran an XT 3 as a teenager growing up on the family farm. You won't tear up anything if you're pulling a mower. They shouldn't be "stuck" all of the way back. With them in this position, this lets the implements all of the way down. If you're carrying a mower, you'll want to get them unstuck so as to control the mower height to the ground when mowing, unless you want to use the hydraulic lever to work the height. I say that because we mowed our prairie hay field that had smooth rocks barely sticking out of the ground and had to pay attention when we came to the rock patch. When we were plowing, we set the TB, lever closest to you, to 2" or just a little less, depending upon how deep dad wanted to plow. Dad had set the outer lever all the way down and we were told that needed to be in that position - so, my brother and I left it alone and didn't work it. I'd presume that lever works an external cylinder for setting the implement height, whereas the TB lever works the 3 pt height to maintain traction besides implement height on the 3 point. Get them unstuck when you can. HTH.

185 may be backwards to and xt, my 185 the outside one is traction booster, inside one is position control. When I bushog the traction booster one is clear forward and then I use the position one for cutting hight. Anyone have a pic of the console of a 185 and 190/190XT? Jim, I haven't been on a 185 to know if they'd be swapped or not, but you've now piqued my curiosity. It does sound about right though for setting and holding the implement. ------------- How blessed we are by HIS GRACE! |

My console has in this order left to right top row, throttle and hi lo middle row loader arm loader bucket then 3 pt raise hold boost lower clear on the fender side of the middle row of levers and then below those in the third row, two more levers. Closest to me pC and at the fender side TB. I understand the 3 pt. Lever raises and lowers etc. It's the two levers to the back that have me confused because I don't want the setting to add excessive pressure to the mower or the linkage on the power arm. Just need to know where these two levers should be set to ensure the mower floats. Thanks. |

Is your mower a drag mower or 3 pt? Either way, you'll need to free up the rear levers to set your float height.

It's a 3 pt PTO driven flail mower with a tail wheel. And thank you for clarifying that the stuck PC Lever is a problem. Can you also tell me , once free how each lever PC and TB should be set to allow a float? |

Once freed up and the tractor running, with the middle row rear lift arm hydraulic lever pushed forward to the "lower" position - work whichever rear lever moves the 3 pt lift arms and set the height of your mower. Now, when you push that hydraulic lever forward to lower your mower, it'll only go down to the height that you've set. You could probably set the other lever all of the way down or where ever you want it if it doesn't affect your lift arms and mowing height. You can determine that after you've discovered and set your mowing height by moving it up and down to see if it affects the lift arms - I don't think that it will. Now realize, it's been almost 50 years(I'm 62) since I've been on an XT, so I'm having to pull from memory here.
