So this buddy of mine knows I use a rotobaler for baling and stops by the barn one morning last winter and wants to know if I want one for parts? He was driving down the road and could see one in a grove since all the vegetation was off. Took us a while to get permission from the owner to buy it. Dragged it out with a couple of chains (and one of the tires still has air in it) Cut most of the vines off it, put a tire on it and pulled it down to his farm. Took a quick look at it, saw the overdrive unit and the soft core attachment and thought I would part it out and scrap the rest. The conveyer table is rusted out and it is missing every spring and belt on it. Besides you can get a working rotobaler for 400. But there was this pulley on the end of the gearbox and i could not figure out why it was there. Did a little digging and found out it was a converted #10. The question is " Is it crazy or just plain stupid to try and restore it" It might be a #10 but it has been stripped of the tilting table. And you know I am going to need to fabricate every part needed. Think I may start by just trying to get it work as is, then if that works, I can then think about the "impossible task" Anybody got any imput?

| Certainly don't part it or scrap it. Besides, you have to do something and what better way to spend your time than a restoration of Orange. Keeps your mind busy with something constructive too. At least that is the way I look at it. |

| Ask around, you never know, you might find a No. 10 conveyor assembly. Found one for my baler, bought it from a guy in Nebraska who found it on a sale in Colorado. Rumor is the original platform for my baler is sitting about 3 miles from me at a place. But haven’t been able to see it with my own eyes. |

| Funniest thing is my wife is the one pushing me. " what are you going to do all winter if you don't tackle it". Need a sprocket and some shielding to finish the 110 spreader so need something to do and getting the electric clutch to work could be fun. Everything else after the conveyer is springs, belts and bearings, so that won't be hard. I think the salvage guys in MO listed a conveyer a couple years back |

| Had a great talk yesterday with Gary from Agrinson Tool about my find. He was very encouraging and gave me some great advice. ( I am always amazed how generous people are on this site) Drained all the gearboxes , put new gear oil in and hooked it up to the wd45. Everything seemed to work as it should figuring every spring has rotted off it. next goal is to get grease into every fitting and work on getting everything freed up. It is amazing how different the mechanics are from a standard rotobaler even though it has been "converted" |
