We're going through our old F2 (It's a gear drive) and getting it ready for harvest. The main drive belt on it is in pretty sorry shape and needs to be replaced (It says "Allis-Chalmers" on the belt, so it's probably the original). Does anyone have any tips or tricks for changing them- it looks like a little bit of a pain to get off, but easier than the Deere 6600 we used to have to work on for sure

Run variable to full high.Stop.Wedge 2x4 between sheaves at bottom. Loosen hydraulic line on variable and open upper pulley. Should be able to work drive belt off. Loosen idle and remove/replace main drive. Work variable belt back on. Dig wood block out.Done!

I always use a socket of proper size in lower sheaves.    MACK

Good idea. Hadn't thought of using a socket.
