I need another plow like I need a hole in the head, but I don't have a two bottom and I couldn't live without one any more. Thanks Facebook Marketplace. I assume its a #52 plow, but I am wondering about the solid lift link on the left side? Never seen (or noticed) one before. Don't see anything in the manual about it, and the manual covers both pin hitch and SC type.    So there, another one saved from scrap. Any info would be appreciated. I have a three bottom SC plow, the WD pulls it OK in first gear, but its a handful when you get into a wet spot. This one should be a breeze in second. I've got a 3 btm, same 'solid bar' setup. I was going to make it a 2 btm as one pointy piece is busted and still, after 6 years ,haven't got around to welding a patch in. I should just sell or 'find a new home' for it but Murphy says my 3 btm will need parts..... That always seemed backwards to me, since the operator usually dismounts on left side , walk around the plow across a furrow, on plowed ground, bend over further making the adjustment. In my opinion, why not make the adjustment on the land side! IMHO

As you can see from the pics, a 60 series has better trash clearance... Well since There is no pic of a 50 series, take my word for it, the 60 series with the bent shank just clears trash better... I'm speculating a bit here, think the non-adjustable link was just a cost reduction move on AC's part. The adj. link on only one side achieved everything needed and way cheaper to produce. For us, two less threads to rust solid to have to free up! |
