I just came from the AGCO (Massey Ferguson) dealer to order some paint. I wanted to order two quarts, along with the hardener and reducer. When I got home, the parts guy at the dealer had left a message for me to call him (couldn't hear the phone ring on the motorcycle). He said the minimum quantity to order was 4 quarts, which really wasn't a problem. The problem is that the reducer and hardener are only available in quantities of 6 each and the hardener is $78 each. My question is, what other options are there for reducer and hardener? He says they have Tisco hardener and reducer on the shelf and recommended that I use that. Are they compatible? If not, is PPG, Nason or some other company's hardener and reducer compatible? Does anyone know for sure who makes Persian Orange (low VOC) paint for AGCO and what is compatible? It's expensive enough , that I don't want to learn from experience !!!

It has been awhile since I have read the instructions on the AGCO paint, but it called for Xylene for reducer. I used it the last time with the paint. I found the correct hardener at a local CIH dealer. Valspar was making the paint several years ago. |

After getting into AGCO's website and reading the PDF about AGCO paints, AGCO paint is still made by Valspar. The paint I ordered is a low VOC acrylic modified alkyd enamel. Valspar's tech support sucks!!! All they do is say that you need to be transferred to a different division until you finally get a busy signal, ending the call. | Painted my D17 about 7-8 years ago and got Persian Orange #2 from a store that sells car paint. I believe it was PPG paint. Turned out great. Brother-in-law is a body guy and liked the stuff. |

| any farm store hardener will work, and any thinner from any brand dealer will be fine |

Never heard of having to buy so much. I get my paint from Napa. A few stores in every state sell the paint. PPG, and all the other professional brands. Will mix any color in whatever brand paint you want. Just give them the paint code. I always get very small quantities, and they never complain. |

A friend of mine, who has done body work his whole life, says that is not so. Since AGCO paint is a low VOC acrylic modified alkyd enamel, he tells me that the hardener and thinner must be compatible with that specific paint. He says that using the wrong thinner or hardener could result in a chemical reaction that will ruin the paint and could even mess up the primer.

| I found out that Valspar also makes John Deere and CNH paint. I was able to find the compatible thinner and hardener from an online John Deere site. It is ordered and, supposedly, on it's way. I will just have to hide the container when some of the green guys are visiting... |
