Folks,
This is only a warning and shouldn't be over a one page post!

I have been driving by this CA for about 10 plus years. Getting more overgrown around it all the time! Sinking into the dirt each year! I stopped several times years ago and ask about it. No not for sale. Today on the way past I seen there was a garage door open and someone outside.

Had a brain fade and turned around and went back. I didnt even look to where the tractor sat. I didnt even shut the truck off! I ask the guy about the CA. He says yea, might sell it now.

I told him the normal prices for a running tractor and more if that have good rubber. I told him he can check prices as good as I can on the internet.

He says, "Well not sure what shape it is in after the big willow tree fell on it"? Other guy says I think the machines setting next to it stopped the tree before it hit the tractor!

Yikes. We went to look. I could see a patch of rear tire among the branches. The rest is buried under limbs.
He took my number and said he would think about it. Wanted to get it out and look it over. Might call me in a week or so?

I gave him a price of $300 as is under the tree with me removing the tree. That may have been way too much?? Smile
Anyway we will see. Not going to loose any sleep over it!

I think Cheryl has always wanted me to have a CA:)?? But maybe I just dreamed that part?

Me and the dog may have to live in the trailer if I drag another orange unit home.

Humm wonder if I could have it running for the local tractor show on the 19th HuuuuuMMMMM????
No pictures on this one!
Regards,
Chris

Chris,
If he doesn't get back to you. I'm trying to sell one for a friend (plus 2 B's). The price is right (it's in the classified's) and Oregon is BEAUTIFUL, for a summer vacation plus, I'd sure like to shake your hand :)

A Pacific Ocean CA, there is nothing like them, the rust is special ;)

Chris, You will like a CA. Nice little tractor. I got one several years ago that needed some work. Is easy to work on because everything is on the small side and there wasn't any problem getting parts. Just fun to drive it around. Russell.

Folks,
A update: Had a chance to view the CA (under the willow) again today. The owner is slowly cutting the tree from around the tractor. Rear tires not good. Engine oil looked to have water in it?? sheet metal dented from fallen tree, no hand clutch. Battery box not good. Tried to turn the engine over with fan belt , no luck, I think engine is stuck. Right rear rim looks like it might be ok? I think if folks gave you these types of tractors it would still be over priced!:)
So the plan is he is going to get it uncovered and pull it out in the daylight. He mentioned my offer. Dang I thought maybe he had forgotten!
The plot thickens!
Also on a separate but related subject I took the D17 front tire to get repaired. While at the shop a friend said he might be selling his CA, if his son doesn't want it. Man I sure hope the son wants it! It runs, was honed and re-ringed 20 years ago. Is a wide front. Was in a fire and repaired. He just is getting older and doesn't need it.
Dang these orange tractor are falling out of the sky! Do I have a sign on me or what!
I can see it all now: A larger trailer to haul two antique tractors to shows and or pulls. CA in 2500 or 3000 class WD45 in 4000 and 4500 lb class.
One can dream a little!:)
No I forgot to get pictures under the willow.
Regards,
 Chris

Folks,
The good and the bad. Mostly bad I think. Stopped and took a picture of "Willow". Sad.

Oh Yea the bucket is deceiving, bottom is mostly gone. Pretty sure both rear tires are junk.

Yep she's in there! Not sure how fast the guy was going?:) Tractor has not had any love in a long, long time. These are the ones that need to be brought back right! I think!

About the only positive thing is that it is a narrow front and those rims are not in the dirt to far yet!
Not sure why I am attracted to the narrow front tractors?? Maybe from my first drive on our WD when I was about 10??

Rear spin out rims might be OK??? Someone gave them a extra coat of white paint at some point. That paint scheme would fit right in too!

Regards,
 Chris

It must be a fairly early CA , with the magneto mount conversion for the distributor.

Folks. Ctucker and Gary,
So what year/s might it be??  Doesnt look like it has a snap coupler. Has some type of 3 point, as the brush hog is still attached. I don't have much info on these CA tractors. So I had no idea on the mag to distributor conversion? A WD series I know a little bit more about those.
We will see how this plays out. I am keeping my expectations EXTREMELY low!:) My quick view of it says it will need a complete engine rebuild, new rear tires, probably new front tires. Hand clutch is missing at least the handle is not there.
The thoughts for something like this would be to make a 2500 or 3000 LB  tractor for some local antique tractor pulls. That would put me in another class compared to the WD series tractors. It would bring my orange tractor count to 4. Seems I can only drive one at a time! So this is getting a little out of hand as normal in my life.
Regards,
 Chris

I would guess 51 or 52 maybe. I'm not sure when they went to the factory installed distributor, but Snap Couple system started in 53 some time I believe.
It would have the Traction Boost system, just not a gauge for it.

Folks,
Have driven past "Willow a dozen times and no more action from the owner.

But at the local fair I did see, and lean on, and drool on, a wide front end CA that could be the one a friend said might be for sale?? This CA has duels on it! I call it "Big Foot"!
Hood is wrinkled.

I'm allowed to hijack my own thread!

Also a shot of my 45 and Nic's WD.

And my wide front WD gets some love! I used rubbing compound on the tank, hood, grill and fenders. Looks much better!

Sure looks like the guy had a serious problem with sticking to the paint scheme from the factory!

I just grabbed what ever looked like weights. Not very pretty. The 45 should be at around 4900 lb. for the 5000 lb class. Will attempt pull on cement and the farm stock pull on Friday. Considering a little weight on the front, but not sure what I can find?

Maybe a CA you say?!? My good sir ,you definitely need and should have a CA in said collection be it either the one overtaken by the brush or the dueled up unit or any decent CA for that matter.....yes I’m biased on the A-C CA😁. This was the very first Allis I ever laid eyes upon, learned to drive on,broke land and planted with since I was old enough to remember....my grandfathers narrow front ‘53 he bought new the day my dad was born....the one I’m still trying to buy back actually.Yeah, like most here I’m an enabler too😂

Good and bad news on my CA adventures! On the dual wheeled nice CA. It is now owned by the grandson of the. I was very happy as this is a family tractor and is definitely in the right place and in good hands!
Now "willow" I found out from a passerby at the fair that he had put a crank in it years ago, and its stuck! Doesn't surprise me Thats the stuff I drag home!Smile.

Allis folks,
Driving by "Willow" I was surprised to see that the owner had extracted her from under the fallen tree.
Its was  a good sight. On the way back by I stopped and talked to the owner and he said he was going to throw a battery in it and fire it up! He also said he had my number. So we will see. I think the motor is probably froze up tight. And I don't think he has the time or dollars to get this started? We will see.
Anyway I asked if I could take some pictures:

This is the one I said I would give him $300 for it. not sure that includes the brush hog? Doubt it. Just sold my rough 5 foot brush hog a pull behind to friend Matt.

Regards,
 Chris

exSW,
Good to hear from you! I was thinking a 2500 or 3000 lb puller!:) Would be a great excuse for me to get a bigger trailer and haul two tractors to local antique pulls.
The owner hasn't called me so maybe he is brush hogging with it!:)
For some reason it has me eyeing it as a new project/ challenge. I am going to assume it needs a complete engine rebuild. As I think the rain cap was not in place. It had a bucket over the exhaust for many years but even that finally failed.

 Chris

Mike,
I stopped and talked with Willows owner today. He thinks he can pull it and get it started??
I think its froze up. The dip stick end has been reduced in size. good sign that water is in the oil/ engine. Will let him play with it.  Good news its not mine right now.
My friend Ted has a wide front CA he wants me to come and look at!
We seen a CA that I viewed months ago at the auction yesterday. It brought $100. Had many many issues. Mainly a parts machine. It was the one I think I posted pictures of somewhere that had the RC wheels on it.

Yessir I sure will. Well I think it had been coming for about a year but I just took it as getting older. Right after I got finished with the D19 we realized it wasn’t showing a charge so first thing I pulled the side panel off and sure enough I had put the wires on the new amp gauge backwards. I literally just squatted down only holding a flashlight and it was like I got hit with a cattle prod and bush axe at the same time. Two herniated, a bulged disc and a 7.5hr surgery later I’m doing better...slowly but surely.

Chris, you cannot go wrong with 'Willow' for that kind of money and I'd (kinda) insist that the bush hog goes with it for that price. Big smile  It might give you some wiggle room. Thumbs Up
If he tries to pull start it, he'll blow that engine all to pieces. Angry  But then you can get the whole thing for scrap price..Party  I wasn't so sure I wanted a CA either, but now I've got 3 of them.  You WILL fall in love after you get to running it.  And after all you've been through with the other A-C's, this one will be really easy and fun to work on.
GOOD Luck!

Chris, I'm with Ted on this one. I'd even up the ante a little to try to tempt him out of blowing that engine to bits. That's sort of like tractor murder. But maybe he'll be smart enough to stop trying that when the wheels are dragging and the engine isn't turning over. I've pull-started a few but only after making sure that the engine was loose, fluids were good, etc.

Good luck!

That CA doesn't look all that bad, I hope the owner doesn't mess it up and you get it at a reasonable price.
Any action on your new building?

Thanks guys,
Old Willow has not moved, when I drove by tonight. Give it another week and I may stop and see him again.
Mike,
You be good to that back now! I just had one blown disc and that was enough for me! I try to be more cautious about lifting things now too.
John,
The building project is still in the design phase. Some materials are on order, some not yet. Its a big project for me!
Regards,
 Chris
