Did Allis Chalmers make a G with factory dual rear tires? Or are these just add on’s people do?

Add on. The axles really are not strong enough.

I have a friend who tested the G's at the plant.
He told me about reported issues with the brake drums. They tried different things to help with the problem such as different metal in the drums and welding the hubs with different type of rods. He said the problem came from turning hard at the end of a row. AC wanted to simulate what was happening and also add more stress to the drums for testing. They decided to put duals on a tractor that was being built. He got on the tractor and let off of the clutch fast which ended up breaking both axles right there at the end of the assembly line.
He has a a lot more tales about the lengths AC went to build a better product and make customers happy.

I have a set of rims for a G that are very narrow 5 inch wide? I also have the tires that fit them. They are rough but could be used. 5 x 30 is the tire size. I am looking for a home for them if interested.

I had a Chevy Corvair. Clear in the back was the engine, then clutch, then, rear axle, and then the transmission. The drive line went through the rear end to the trans and back to the rear end. Is that how it is done on the mighty "G"?

And I remember some one posting a photo of their "G" with a caption that every tractor had to have a purpose. They built a smoker under the frame so they could drive the parade rout and smoke meat at the same time.

The G uses the same transmission that the B & C uses. When used on the B & C there is a shaft that runs around the gears, that runs the PTO and hydraulic. On the G that same shaft runs from the engine to the front of the transmission and runs/feeds the transmission. Clear as mud?

So it sounds like the G’s did not come with dual rear wheels as a factory option and are an “add on” that are probably not really safe or practical if your going to do anything with the tractor besides putt around in a parade or two a few times a year. That sound right?
