Not sayin it’s right but I’ve used straight hydraulic oil, power steering oil and even ATF in known leakers.
Businesses are starting to not carry anything out of the ordinary. Everything is going mail order. We deal with it at work all the time. We have to order material packages way ahead of time for each job.
Also don’t forget it’s a throw away world now days. If a jack is low on fluid throw it away and go buy another.

Hydraulic oil or steering fluid would be best.. Some of the NEW transmission fluids have a lot of MAGIC in them... If you use trans fluid, stick with the OLD ATF......... I would not go with Mercon or Dextron .... just in case.

Like them all, but love the "B"s.

10/30 motor oil, ATF, snow plow hyd oil, Mobile DTE Lite,
Bought a floor jack at Goodwill (on old peoples day) for $15 . seems it would pump up about 5" - low on oil and works great now (was one of them $100 Taiwan made orange units) rated 2 ton

Life lesson: If you’re being chased by a lion, you’re on a horse, to the left of you is a giraffe and on the right is a unicorn, what do you do? You stop drinking and get off the carousel.

I always got it for the tire shop from NAPA. Our NAPA store has been here and owned by the same family since 1932. They have almost everything. The great great grandson is now working there. Hesgetting good.

If it's a slow leaker, put in brake fluid. It'll swell the seals and you're good to go.
