Hi,
It's been a few years since I have messed with my Dad's Allis C. I needed to adjust the clutch and something slipped and the motor was hanging mostly by the drive shift and I think it bent. There was a wobble when turning by hand (maybe normal) but there is a vibration in the rear while running. By any chance can I remove the shaft from the front? If not, what is the best way to split the rear from the torque tube?
Thanks for any help,
Larry

The shop manual should help:

There is a big cotter key that holds the drive shaft to the rear end at least there is suposed to be I have split one for a clutch and the drive shaft came out. I couldn't get it back on the trans input shaft without splitting it anyway. I tried but trying to line up the splines in the blind holding on to the other end of a 3 ft shaft just didn't work. So I split it and put the cotter key in like it should be.if you've got some blocks and a cherry picker you can have it apart and back together in a few hours. If you don't have a cherry picker go to Oriellys and borrow one. They charge your card and when you bring it back refund the whole price. You can't hardly beat a free rental

Block or jack stands under the drawbar. Might take shims to keep it square with the torque tube.

Lift from the top of the engine to keep the front from flopping over.

Lift close to the gas tank to balance the torque tube to line up with the transmission.

Are you bolting the torque tube, to the rear first or, are you stabbing the clutch with the torque tube attached to the engine?

I have assembled them both ways. With the torque tube attached to the engine and installing the drive shaft in from the transmission end. Also with the driveshaft installed in the torque tube and it cradled on an engine lift to attached to the transmission Then bolting up the engine to the torque tube as a normal engine install. It all depends on what all you have apart. I did the latter when all is on the floor in pieces. I did the latter on the one in the picture as I put in a drive shaft as well as a different torque tube
