I have a HD11B, serial #4483 that I took home a month ago. I ran it for a few hours and everything worked well. No leaks, fires right up, and everything works.

 

Now that I had some faith in the machine, I moved it into the shop for a complete fluid/filter change.

 

After I changed the engine oil and filter I pulled out the fuel shut off and wound the engine over until I saw 20 psi of oil pressure. I pushed in the fuel shut off, let it idle and it maintained 40 psi of oil pressure at idle.

 

Here is when things went south on me. I had it running to clear the air in the fuel lines and check for leaks. All of a sudden I heard a knock in the motor. Shut it down, pulled the valve covers and everything looked fine. Engine knock is still there when winding over and fuel shut off pulled out. This eliminates the fuel system or stuck injector.

 

Anything common or simple to look into before I tear into the engine? I will pull the belts off the accessories just in case the noise is up front.

 

 I find it hard to believe that it can go from Hero to Zero in a matter of minutes. Rotella 15W40 oil with a WIX filter.

My Buda powered HD6 did the same, and have not performed any surgery to find out why. Tractor is just parked in rotten row. Hope the lack of replies here doesnt mean everyone with Buda powered crawlers are in this same situation!

Check driveshaft to hydraulic pump if it has front mounted pump, to make sure shaft has not come apart, hitting bottom of radiator. The noise created is similar to engine knock.
