Where can I find a list of compatible fluids for this tractor?

My father just bought one and they told him that 821XL transmission oil would go in it, but it is $90 a bucket. The other they recommended is foaming real bad.

Any tractor fluid that has the meets 821 spec printed on the label will work. I prefer a name brand oil, there are a lot of universal fluids that people have had good luck with out there though.

The trans and differential have 2 different fill points and check points.

If you are looking at the sight glasses when it is running they do normally show some churning/air in them. Never had one foam up in the trans, could be way overfull.

Interesting. How do you even know that it is foaming real bad ?? And what problems is this causing you ?????????

It's bubbling so bad is looks like a cotton ball is stuck in the sight glass. Then it clears out in 20 mins, but I know that air is running through the gears and pumps till that happens. The old oil that was in it never did that. It was old oil that was in the tractor when he bought it.

Well, if the hydraulic pumps aren't making any unusual noises and are performing fine, you are speculating on a problem that may not even exist.

In my experience,you can't tell much about the rear end oil in the sight glass once it's running. It will appear low while it's not. You will see foam in the upper as well. That's why the book says to let it set for 15 minutes before checking sight glass or before startup on level ground.

$90 a bucket oil maybe cheap if the $20 bucket oil leads to part failures. Every tractor I buy gets new 821 oil and filters so I know what’s in it and it’s what is recommended. I had first gear seize to the shaft on a 7060 that was full of yellow bucket oil, and a 8970 New Holland that the top bearing went out and ruined every gear in it. Not saying the oil caused it but I won’t use anymore of it. Hurts more when you blow a hose though.
