I found an early 1960s Allis Chalmers hd3 for sale. It runs and opperstes pretty good. Reverse and turning is strong forward seems weeker. The tram lever pushes formard about 6-8 inches before it engages. in reverse it engages after around 2 inches. Can the clutch be adjusted?

It is a clutch pack adjusted by removal and installation of shims on the bench.  You split the tractor to remove it.

Thanks. It seems to still have a little power in forward just week. Do you think it would still be usable for some lighter work for just a week or 2? Or should I plan on putting more money in it. If so does anyone have a ball park on about what it would cost to fix it.

first thing to do is make sure its in 1st gear. lose a lot of power in higher gears.

The guy who is selling it seems to know quite a bit about it and he's the one that was telling me it's weak when going forward. I don't know a whole lot about any heavy equipment. when you push the tram lever forward it goes 8 to 10 in before it starts to engage is that normal I know it won't be the same. Reverse only has to go a couple inches? Is there a way to adjust the linkage maybe it has slipped loose a little?

Shimming that clutch is easily done in chassis on a farm tractor. Is that not possible on the dozer chassis ??
