OK all you RV experts,(lol) Bought a brand new Master Tow (tow dolly) w/electric brakes. Questions is, the 1995 Fleetwood Bounder w/ Ford F53 chassis, 460 gas. has a Remco brand electric brake system in the cab for the trailer brake system. the power to this system has never been hooked up to the Power Distribution Box in the engine compartment. It has the the old style mid 90's 6-pin plug at the hitch, all lights work on the dolly, signal, 4-way, brake lights, running lights etc., All the wiring for the controller is there, and in great shape. the only thing is no power to the controller. the red and blue wire go all the way to the distrubution box, but dont go inside it, they are both tied off next to the wire harness going in. what does the red wire attach too? what does the blue wire attach too? I have the plug adapter to plug in the new dolly to the old style plug. ------------- I tried to follow the science, but it was not there. I then followed the money, and that’s where I found the science. |

my thoughts... red wire would be power to the controller 'computer' blue will be the 'brake' power feed( supplies 12V from battery to controller which goes to trailer brakes) you may need to install 1 or 2 relays in the 'distribution' box though to make it work. Hopefully Google can locate a wiring diagram of your truck, that will show what's needed. If you can't find it ,post make/model/year of truck and I'll see what I can find...afte rI get 1 or 2 jobs off the honedoo list as it's NOT raining here, for some strange reason.... Shameless the old gal is gonna ride in the van and hit the brakes when the brake lights come on in the motor home. I'm gonna have to rig up some sorta communication between the motor home and her van. From here to Arizona might be a long trip for her. Just crossing the legs probably won't work long.

HMmmmmm,,,brakes on a tow dolly,,,??? Sounds like that might create a weight transfer problem as the bulk of the towed weight is behind the Tow Dolley and ,,,,and,,,centrifugal force is gonna want to,,,,,never mind,,,,,

actually Joe, the vast majority of the weight is directly over the axles of the dolly. Tow dolly's are designed to have the vehicle driven forward up on the dolly. ------------- I tried to follow the science, but it was not there. I then followed the money, and that’s where I found the science. |

Hey Lars,,,actually,,,I am building a tow dolly from a set of plans by an ME. Something to think about,,,,when one set of tires is raised higher that the other,,a percentage of the vehicle weight is transferred to the "lower" set of tires. If you kept raising the front tires,,eventually ALL the weight of the vehicle would be on the rear tires,,,,right?
